The Terminological Tools And Challenges Of Asian Languages Term Representation
نویسنده
چکیده
Asian languages, such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean (CJK) have one thing in common: they exhibit different linguistics characteristics from English and other western languages. This poses special difficulties since current term representation techniques used in English cannot be applied directly to these languages. Instead, segmentation is a first process in CJK information processing. Segmentation is a term representation technology to extract terminological information from such texts. Using the case of the Chinese language, this paper reviews the development of terminological tools and the various approaches used in segmentation. Some online resources are introduced to highlight the state of development. Acknowledging that there is a direct relationship between segmentation effectiveness and terminological tools’ quality and complexity, the paper posits that the quality of terminological tools is far been from ideal and that existing resources are far been from adequate. A number of likely trends are identified, namely, the increasing emergence of new and various kinds of electronic terminological tools (CD-ROM or online resources), commercialization of electronic terminological tools, and improved quality through standardization, compatibility and integration of terminological tools, as well as the establishment of new cooperative efforts in creating and maintaining terminological tools.

Levesque and Brachman argue that in order to provide timely and correct responses in the most critical applications, general purpose knowledge representation systems should restrict their languages by omitting constructs which require non-polynomial worst-case response times for sound and complete classiication. They also separate terminological and assertional knowledge, and restrict classiica...
متن کاملAlgebraic Terminological Representation
This thesis investigates terminological representation languages, as used in kl-one-type knowledge representation systems, from an algebraic point of view. Terminological representation languages are based on two primitive syntactic types, called concepts and roles, which are usually interpreted model-theoretically as sets and relations, respectively. I propose an algebraic rather than a model-...

Language is primarily constituted by action and interaction based on sensorimotor information. This paper demonstrates the nature of subjectivity and intersubjectivity through the neural mechanism and typological evidence of sentence-final particles from East Asian languages and extends to the discussion of the relationship between them. I propose that intersubjecivity is a kind of embedded or ...

Providing analytical and social tools, critical discourse analysis (henceforthCDA) can be used to unravel the hidden ideologiesas well as biases in the websof discursive practices involved in texts. To have a more detailed analysis, eleven elements are chosen from...
